Earlier this week Dame Rachel de Souza, Children’s Commissioner for England, launched ‘The Big Ask’, the biggest ever consultation with children undertaken in this country.
It is a chance to have our say on the things that matter to us. We can tell them what our life is like, what we want in the future, and anything we think is holding us back.
They’ll use what we say to tell the people who run the country or our local area what we think needs to change to make our life better.
It will identify the barriers preventing children from reaching their full potential, propose solutions and come up with targets by which improvements can be monitored.
All schools are being encouraged to support their pupils to complete this survey and at Waterside we strongly believe that children should recognise how they have a voice and an ability to change things. Be it through our school council and helping us, as a school to constantly improve, or by playing a part in community matters, environmental concerns or more. As a result we will be supporting our children to share their opinions.
There is a survey form for adults aged 18+ too. This will be a shorter form that will look a little different to the forms designed for children and young people but will still capture the views of parents, care-leavers, and those working with children.
If you would like to take part, please click the link below. It is entirely optional and anonymous.
