Santa and his little elves were VERY busy crafting and organising the Christmas Fayre yesterday. There was a chance to meet Santa, a fabulous raffle, tombola and a wide variety of stalls in the hall. Many parents attended with their children and fun was had by all.
The PTA took a whooping £867 which is an excellent amount of money. A big thank you to Friends of Waterside for their efforts in organising such a great event.

Festivities are well underway at Waterside this year. Friends of Waterside opened their Christmas shop today and they did a great job of organising the children.
671 gifts were ordered and this equated to 76% of the school shopping for gifts. Every child who entered the shop had their very own shopper who helped them chose gifts for their loved ones! Each class passed through in 30 minutes which is amazing!
A big thank you to the FOW for organising, shopping, wrapping and spending the time to organise this event. In total the event raised an approximate profit of £300 for the school.

On the afternoon of Friday 10th November, ten boys went along to represent Waterside, at Applemore College for the Year 5/6 3G Football Tournament. Our boy’s spirits were running high and determined to do well, using their skills and football knowledge. Waterside won their first pool, winning one game and drawing two. It was a bright sunny autumn day but the temperature dropped rapidly as the long afternoon went on. All teams were re-placed on how well they had done for the second part of the tournament – four more games. We had to up our game, use our skills and speed as the matches were getting harder – we continued to do well. Defending amazingly well, with some great saves, but unfortunately we did not get through.
Waterside boys should hold their heads high for representing school fantastically well and continuous encouragement towards each other.

Today at Waterside we launched a new rewards system in addition to the Head Teachers awards that are given out in Friday’s Celebration Assembly. These new reward certificates are centered around our Learning Pirates and they each represent values, skills and traits that will help our children to develop their own ‘character’, and so make them ‘capable’ and ‘able’ to strive, aspire and succeed in all walks of life. The Pirate values are ‘responsible learner’, ‘resilient learner’, ‘reflective learner’, ‘resourceful learner’ and ‘reasoning learner’.
All the children pictured received their certificates today as they have demonstrated in school one of the pirate values.
