Parenting Mental Health

Dear Parents and Carers,

You may have seen ‘The One Show’ earlier this week, that celebrated the great work of a lady, Susanne Alderson, who has created a huge help system for parents managing the needs of a child with a mental health issue and the essential role parents play in supporting their child through this uncertain experience.

The website she has set up has some great help guides and information, as well as a facebook group. An online group such as this can offer understanding, hope, change, choice, connection and importantly a sense of belonging.

It always helps to have somewhere to turn to.

If you are concerned about the wellbeing of your child, please do come in and speak to us in school as well.

We are thrilled to have been invited to team up with The University of Winchester and The Arts Council UK to be a part of a project that explores a range of innovative practices in teaching for creativity. This is a nationwide project that will take place over three years.

Although the core programme for us will commence in 2023, the schools involved will begin by creating an understanding of creativity through asking the children to answer questions, either verbally in groups or individually.

Please read the letter attached for further information and the chance to choose to ‘opt out’.

Many thanks

Mr Ward

The School Nursing Team will be visiting to carry out height & weight checks on the morning of Wednesday 2nd February 2022 for years R & 6.  They will be measured fully clothed, except for their coats and shoes, in a private space, away from other pupils.  Children do not have to participate if you do not wish them to.
