Community Links
Supporting our families is an integral part of our ethos and values. We do this in many ways.
This purpose of this page is to signpost a range of local services and organisations that may be of value to our families. Services and organisations that promote healthy living, and/or spiritual, emotional and mental wellbeing.
This is by no means an exhaustive list and we welcome suggestions to add to this page.
General:
Hythe and Dibden Parish Council
NHS Southern Health – they provide community health, mental health, learning disability and social care services.
Rotary Club of Hythe and Waterside – This charity has already supported our children by donating Dictionaries to all year 4 children, donating prizes for writing competitions and covering the cost of having an author and illustrator come to the school and work with the children.
Healthy Living:
Family cycling – The Hythe Ferry Website has a great page on where to go to both hire bikes and where to go in the New Forest for great bike rides.
Our Year 5 Children spend a week of ‘bikeability’ training every year. A Family day out on the bikes on the many New Forest tracks and trails is great for everyone!
Applemore Health and Leisure Centre
Spiritual, Emotional and Mental Well-being:
Rehab 4 Addiction was founded to assist those affected by substance misuse and their loved ones. We offer a range of services, and help signpost you to the most effective treatments. This includes alcohol rehab, drug rehab, detox services, intervention, aftercare and outpatient counselling. Their helpline advisors are committed to helping you in your quest to locate effective treatments for addiction.
Rehab 4 Addiction also supports people with mental health disorders. Living with a mental health disorder can be a difficult and often debilitating thing. Most of the time, such disorders have a significantly negative impact on mood, thoughts, and emotional and cognitive wellbeing in general. We all at times feel sad or anxious: it is a human emotion.
But for those suffering from a mental health condition, these negative thoughts, behaviours or impulses do not leave. They often become worse and end up impacting on an individual’s life so much so that they struggle and even fail to perform daily tasks.
If you, or someone you know, is becoming increasingly affected by a mental health problem, it is important to remember that you are not alone. Rehab 4 Addiction offer a variety of therapies and treatments to help their patients cope with mental health disorders.
What are the early signs of mental health disorders?
If you are concerned about the mental health a loved one, it is sometimes difficult to pick up on body language or behaviours that are out of the ordinary.
One option may be to approach your loved one and try to discuss the topic of mental health. Doing so is better than doing anything at all. Only if this fails to make inroads, we may suggest you look at seeking out professional help.
If some of the signs we have listed below appear over a short period of time, it can indicate the onset of a mental health disorder. The signs are:
- A change in sleeping patterns
- Frequent levels of low energy
- Distancing themselves from hobbies or people they normally thrive off
- Lethargy
- Lack of motivation
- Increased use of drugs (recreational, tobacco, alcohol)
- Seeming out of touch with their emotions
- Inability to fulfil day-to-day tasks (working or cooking)
- Worrying memories/ thoughts appearing often
- A desire to self-harm
- Hearing voices that aren’t there
- Seeing things that aren’t there
