Don Naylor – Vice Chair of Governors

I have been a governor at Waterside for 10 years. At present I am one of two Vice chairs and am also the H & S governor. After leaving Oxford University with a degree in Engineering Science I embarked on a career in Research and Development in process industries. Having lived in Hythe for 54 years, all my three sons received a good education in this area. Whilst living here I have always been involved in community life including serving for some time as churchwarden at St Johns, in local choirs, setting up a ”Friends of St Johns” charity etc.  I have also been an active member of the Hythe Twinning Association being enamoured of France, its people, its language, and especially its customs in music and dance. The reasons I became and continue to enjoy being a governor are manifold. I wish to ensure that all our young people of Hythe get the best education we can give them. In addition, I feel that this education needs to include a grounding in the arts and sciences and an awareness of the wider community in which they live.
